Just such a happening occurred more than a century ago when, in 1901, God brought together a small group of clergy and laymen who conceived a plan for financing new mission plantings through affordable loans…and the ministry of Church Extension was born. Over the ensuing decades, The Church Extension Fund helped build up God’s Kingdom with affordable loans to congregations for buying, building, expanding, renovating and otherwise equipping churches and schools throughout the Michigan District. At the same time, CEF offered individual Lutherans a safe haven for their invested dollars in a growing variety of savings plans and services.
